The Qatar Cancer Society (QCS) has launched a competition under the theme  ‘Decide; We are with You’ which aims to raise awareness about the dangers of tobacco and emphasise the importance of quitting smoking.
 

The contest also aims at promoting a healthy lifestyle.
 

The competition is being held as part of the World No Tobacco Day, which falls on May 31 and targets three categories: school students, university students and state institutions. 
 

Deadline for submission of the entries is April 26. The entries can be submitted at the headquarters of in QCS in Barwa Towers, Al Sadd or by e-mail ntd@qcs.qa 
 

The winners will be announced at a ceremony to be held on May 3 and they will receive financial rewards and commemorative prizes.
 

Topics of the competition revolve around harmful effects of tobacco, ways to combat smoking and tobacco, quitting smoking, smoke-free society at the individual and community level and dangers of passive smoking.
 

Topic for primary schools: Art that empowers the idea of quitting smoking and tobacco in all its forms (size A3, 42cm x 29.7cm). 
 

Preparatory & secondary schools: Art modules that empower the idea of quitting smoking and tobacco in all its forms, not to exceed 1sqm and 1.5kg. 
 

The first three winners will receive cash rewards of QR3,000 and QR2,000 and QR1,000 each.
 

The universities category entries will have videos, motion graphic and animation not exceeding two minutes. The first three winners will receive QR5,000, QR3,000 and QR2,000, respectively.
