WHO-SEARO organized Regional Workshop for mHealth Interventions to Prevent and Control NCDs in the South-East Asia Region in New Delhi, India, 18-19 December, 2017. The objective was to promote and accelerate implementation of mHealth initiatives for prevention and control of NCDs and risk factors in SEAR Member States. The workshop was opened by Dr Pem Namgyal, Director, Programme Management. The workshop was attended by 66 participants including representatives from SEAR countries, experts, academicians and researchers from member countries. The workshop provided a platform to share global and regional best practices on mHealth interventions for prevention and control of NCDs, including mCessation, mDiabetes, mCervicalcancer and the possibility of SEAR countries adapting the same. India’s experience of mCessation and mDiabetes was discussed in detail at the workshop. The participants were explained the infrastructure and mechanisms required for implementing mHealth programmes. The member states prepared draft action plans for implementation in their respective countries in consultation with the experts.
