Hong Kong Council on Smoking and Health calls for public support and urge the Legislative Council to endorse the bill as soon as possible to prevent the alternative smoking products from being the gateway of youth smoking, and bringing health risks to the people. Interested parties are invited to complete the online registration from and submit their views on or before 5pm, 8 April 2019 (Monday) through https://app3.legco.gov.hk/ors/chinese/Register.aspx.
We have to emphasize that there is no safe and harmless tobacco product in the world. E-cigarettes, heat-not-burn tobacco products and other alternative smoking products release various detrimental and carcinogenic substances. Quit smoking is the only effective way to protect public health from smoking hazards. The legislation on the total ban on these products (including electronic cigarettes, heat-not-burn products and herbal cigarettes) should be completed as soon as possible to nip it in the bud, so as to prevent all forms of smoking hazards and safeguard the health of the public, especially our next generations.
