In order to call for parents, teachers and the whole society of common concern, and so that our next generation refuses the first cigarette and from secondhand smoke exposure. Yesterday morning, “Youth Tobacco Control and Health Education base” was built by the Central Disease of Center (CDC) of Gongshu district, Affiliated hospital of Hangzhou Normal University (Hangzhou city second hospital) and the school of Mo Ganshan road, it was officially inaugurated.

CDC of Zhejiang Province investigated 3799 teenagers in 22 schools about in 2012. According to the survey, the secondhand smoke exposure rate of teenagers in Zhejiang province, is 59.22%, the secondhand smoke exposure rate of family and school, is 44.47% and 31.30% separately, teenagers doesn’t know completely about the danger of secondhand smoke exposure. Research shows a cigarette can make indoor PM2.5 concentrations, up to 800 micrograms per cubic meter.

After building tobacco control and health education base, it will do research on the tobacco control knowledge and behavior of students, and targeted intervention measures. Affiliated hospital of Hangzhou Normal University will open green pass for teachers and parents to develop smoking cessation outpatient service.Through the above services, in order to achieve leading teenagers away from the dangers of tobacco, the purpose of creating a healthy and smoke-free environment, and reduce the incidence rate of passive smoking of teenagers and children in the family and school. 

“Tobacco control and health education base is the first built by CDC, hospital and school in Zhejiang province .” Shen Lili said, vice-director in CDC in Gongshu district.
