Shanghai sees satisfactory effects of smoking ban

“The ban has been carried out for one year.”

One year ago, Shanghai authorities instituted a ban to forbid smoking in all enclosed public areas. According to statistics released by the local authority in September of 2017, public support of the ban reached 99 percent. Before the implementation of the ban, the occurrence rate of smoking in public areas was 25.1percent, while after the ban the occurrence dropped to just 16.3 percent.
